Brick Repair Nassau County
Long Island's Premier Brick & Stoop Repair Contractor
Brick is one of the most durable building materials ever used — but even the finest brickwork eventually shows its age. Freeze-thaw cycles, water infiltration, shifting foundations, and decades of exposure to Long Island’s coastal climate all take a toll. When Nassau County homeowners notice spalling faces, crumbling mortar, cracked courses, or bowing sections, they call Melfi Masonry. We’ve been diagnosing and repairing brick on homes and structures across the North Shore of Long Island for over 35 years — from Great Neck and Manhasset to Oyster Bay and throughout Suffolk County.
Not all brick damage is equal, and identifying the root cause is just as important as fixing the visible symptom. A crack that runs through the brick itself tells a different story than one that follows the mortar joints. Stair-step cracking along the corners of a stoop suggests differential settlement. Our team has the experience to read what your brick is telling you — and to recommend the appropriate repair rather than a cosmetic patch that will fail again in a few seasons.
Our brick repair services include replacing individual damaged or spalling bricks with closely matched replacements, repointing deteriorated mortar joints. We source brick that is carefully matched to your existing material in color, texture, and size — so repairs blend seamlessly rather than standing out like a patch.
Every repair begins with a thorough assessment. We don’t just fix what’s visible — we investigate what caused the damage so the repair lasts. If water is the culprit, we address the source. If settlement is involved, we evaluate whether structural stabilization is needed before any masonry work begins. Our clients throughout Nassau and Suffolk County trust us to be honest about what their home needs — and what it doesn’t.
Whether you have a few spalling bricks or many have been deteriorating for years, Melfi Masonry has the skills and experience to restore it properly. Contact us today for a free, no-pressure inspection and estimate. We serve Nassau County, the North Shore, and communities throughout Long Island.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Brick Repair FAQs
How do I know if my brick needs repair or full replacement?
In most cases, individual brick repair is the right solution — full replacement is rarely necessary unless a wall has experienced catastrophic structural failure. Signs that repair is urgent include bricks that are actively spalling or crumbling, mortar joints that are recessed more than ¼ inch, visible cracking in a stair-step pattern, or any section that moves or flexes when pressed. We assess every situation honestly and recommend only what’s genuinely needed.
Why do bricks spall on Long Island homes?
Spalling on Long Island is almost always caused by water and freeze-thaw cycles. Water enters through deteriorated mortar joints or directly through the brick face, then freezes and expands in winter — physically pushing the brick face apart from the inside. Older soft bricks are especially vulnerable. Addressing mortar joints early is the single best way to prevent spalling from spreading across a facade.
